Michael Waterman Senior Consultant
Michael is a telecommunications engineer who specialises in mobile and broadband projects, including scenario analysis and economic evaluation of new technologies, and in the design and management of technology roll-outs. He has recent (2004) experience of managing broadband pilot roll-outs in the UK through projects with Analysys. For several months Michael was the on-site project manager for a broadband pilot undertaken under the regional initiative of the development agency Advantage West Midlands.
Michael is highly experienced in the development of economic costing models across many technologies. He has built detailed switching and infrastructure costing models for Telkom Indonesia as part of World Bank-funded projects, and has developed cost-based interconnection models in other South East Asian countries using alternative wireline and wireless technological scenarios. Michael was also lead modeller in a project to develop a TSLRIC mobile model for Ofcom, the UK regulator, and is one of the worlds most experienced Analysys STEM® modellers.
Prior to joining Network Strategies, Michael was a Consultant with Analysys. He commenced his career with Telecom New Zealand in 1987. Michael holds a Master of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, specialising in the study of congestion control of voice traffic in broadband ISDN and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) (First Class Honours) from the University of Canterbury, specialising in communications theory and computer systems.
