Salim Elzwawi – Consultant

Salim is a technology specialist with experience in research & development at telecommunications equipment vendors and manufacturers of communications electronics.

Now based in our Auckland office, Salim was previously a telecoms engineer at Nokia Siemens Networks in Germany. His early roles included commissioning, maintenance and link optimisation of digital microwave and fibre transmission networks, as well as training clients on delivered equipment. Later, he was assigned as a General Project Manager for all fixed network rollouts in Libya, leading the implementation of projects for the General Public Telephone Company, including a new core network.

As a researcher at Infineon Technologies AG Salim investigated production test requirements of integrated circuits performing baseband and radiofrequency functions in GSM, Wi-Fi and GPS devices. As part of this work, he undertook cost-benefit analysis of different testing approaches and consulted on appropriate design-for-test methodologies.

Prior to joining Network Strategies Salim was contracted by Rakon Limited to undertake product concept and feasibility research for products used in telecommunications infrastructure. His responsibilities included designing prototypes and developing fabrication processes for these proposed devices.

Salim holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Canterbury and a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electronics from the University of Duisburg. In addition Salim holds a specialisation certificate in data science.
